Library collection

The library offers a lot to borrow in addition to traditional books. The collection includes season tickets, a ukulele, board games, console games, music and films. On this page, you will find their loan periods and the borrowing policies for various materials.

Season tickets

In Pirkkala, you can borrow sports clubs’ season tickets. There are currently four Pirkkalan Pirkat season tickets (two for men’s and two for women’s games) and two PJK season tickets for men’s Futsal-Ykkönen.

The season tickets are at the Main Library and must also be returned to the Main Library’s customer service desk. The tickets can be borrowed for one week and cannot be reserved in advance. If the ticket is lost or damaged, the borrower is obliged to compensate for it. As with other materials, you need a PIKI library card to borrow season tickets.

Board games

The library has a collection of board games to borrow for both adults and children. Board games have a two-week loan period and are returned to the clerk.

As with other material, you can make acquisition requests to the library for board games. We also accept donations of intact, clean board games in good condition.

Donations

The library accepts donations in good condition. Please only bring material in good enough condition that you could also keep in your own home.

The donations are processed and suitable donations are added to the collection.  Material that is not added to the collection is donated onwards, discarded or put on the library’s exchange shelf for everyone’s enjoyment. When donating, you agree that the library will decide what to do with the donation.

The library cannot accept films as donations.

Exchange shelf

The Main Library and Nuoliala Library have an exchange shelf for customers, where you can bring books, magazines, music and films. The shelves are not supervised, and you can bring and take material according to your conscience.

Please only bring material in a condition that you would happily take home yourself.
